Mampong (Ash), Dec. 04, GNA – ASA Savings and Loans has presented 40 bags of cement and food items, valued at GHC16,000.00, to three orphanages in the Ashanti Region.
The items comprise six bags of maize, four bags of gari, soft drinks, tomato paste, cooking oil, eggs, bottle water, and detergents/toiletries.
They were distributed among the Mampong Orphanage Home at Asante Mampong, All Nations Orphanage at Ayigya-Kumasi and Central Destitute Infirmary Orphanage at Amaoful near Bekwai.
Mr Alexander Opoku Ayitey, the Mampong Area Manager of ASA Savings and Loans, said the donation formed part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility to support the needy in society.
“The gesture is to put smiles in the faces of the children and also help provide befitting shelter for them,” he told the Ghana News Agency in an interview.
“This is the little we can do to support the upkeep of these underprivileged children”.
“These children should not be neglected, especially as the festive season sets in to make them smile and feel part of society,” Mr Ayitey said.
The Reverend Mrs Hanna Ennin, Manager of Mampong Orphanage Home, commended the company for the gesture and reiterated the need to support the proper upbringing and development of the children as it remains a shared responsibility.
She appealed to other corporate bodies and wealthy individuals to give back to society, especially to the orphanages, adding: “God will bless them for a good cause”.
